Sainik Schools are premier institutions across India designed to prepare young students academically, mentally, and physically for entry into the National Defence Academy and other defense services. Every year, thousands of students compete for limited seats through the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE), making the admission process highly challenging and competitive. Admission to Classes 6 and 9 is strictly based on merit through the AISSEE, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in January each year. • Academic qualification: Studying in Class 5 at a recognized school

9th Class:

• Age: 13 to 15 years as of March 31, 2026 (born between April 1, 2011, and March 31, 2013)
• Academic qualification: Studying in Class 8 at a recognized school
• Gender: Mostly boys; select schools may admit girls under pilot schemes
• Nationality: Indian citizens only
